Lesson Four – Seeds and Pollination

This science teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to investigate, describe and record how different flowers can produce seeds and reproduce through pollination.
The class can explain and model how to write a news report using the correct scientific vocabulary to describe how bees can work to pollinate some of the different flowers that are growing in a garden.
Download this teaching pack including a lesson plan, classroom activities and an interactive presentation to investigate, describe and record how different flowers can produce seeds and reproduce through pollination
Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe how flowers produce seeds and reproduce through pollination, a template to write a report to describe and explain how bees transfer pollen between plants and a word bank to select vocabulary to use when composing a report about pollination.
The interactive presentation can be used to explore and record how different flowers can produce seeds and reproduce through pollination.
This lesson is part of a science scheme of work to get the children to investigate and record the life cycle of plants as they grow from seeds or bulbs into different flowers and identify the factors that can affect their growth. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
