Lesson Two – Growing Seeds

This science teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to explore and record how to conduct a test to identify each of the special factors that are required for seeds to grow into matching plants.

The class can identify how to sequence a set of instructions to show each of the steps that need to happen when a plant grows from a seed that has been planted in some soil.

Download this teaching pack including a lesson plan, classroom activities and an interactive presentation to explore and record how to conduct a test to identify each of the special factors that are required for seeds to grow into matching plants

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe some of the factors that are required for seeds to grow into plants, a template to record how seeds grow and change over a number of days using standard units of measurement and a set of cards to sequence a set of instructions about how to grow a plant from a seed.

The interactive presentation can be used to explore how to conduct a test to identify each of the factors that are required for seeds to grow into plants.

This lesson is part of a science scheme of work to get the children to investigate and record the life cycle of plants as they grow from seeds or bulbs into different flowers and identify the factors that can affect their growth. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
