Flag Printing

This art and design scheme of work for Key Stage Two gets the children to practise and refine different techniques when printing colours, shapes and patterns to design flags to match specific locations. The class can use a range of objects to print a flag design representing a locality or country.

Investigate how to design and make a printing template using string that can be used to print some different repeating patterns of shapes on specific themes

Explore and record some of the different shapes and patterns that can be used to represent a specific location when printed on a matching flag

Lesson Five : Flag Design
Practise printing the planned design pattern for a new flag to match some of the special aspects and features that can be found in the local area

Lesson Six : Flag Reviews
Investigate how to evaluate and suggest changes and improvements to the design of a new flag that has been printed to represent the local area
