Lesson Two – What Vehicles

This design technology teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to identify, describe and compare some of the special parts that can be found on a range of toy vehicles that are used for different functions.

The class can conduct and record information from a survey to list, name and counrt the identified parts that can be found on different vehicles visible on a street close to the school.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to name, locate and describe different parts that can be found on a car and a worksheet to investigate and record information about some of the different types of vehicles that can be seen around the school’s neighbourhood.

The interactive presentation can be used to explore and record information about some of the special parts that can be found on a range of different toy vehicles.

This lesson is part of a design technology scheme of work to get the children to select and combine a range of different materials to make a model of a toy vehicle with a movement mechanism to match chosen success criteria. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
