Lesson One – Street Survey

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe different types of street furniture that might be seen in a location close to the school, a worksheet to count and record items of street furniture seen on different streets and roads in the school’s neighbourhood and a set of cards to construct and label a model of a street to show different items of street furniture.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore and describe different types of objects and signs that can be found along a street in the school’s neighbourhood.
This lesson is part of a curriculum topic scheme of work to get the children to identify, describe and compare different types of buildings and objects that can be found on a street or road that is part of the school neighbourhood. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
