Streets and Roads

This curriculum topic scheme of work for the Foundation Stage gets the children to identify, describe and compare different types of buildings and objects found on a street or road that is part of the school neighbourhood. The class can perform surveys to collect information to compare things seen along a street or road.

Lesson One : Street Survey
Identify, locate and describe some of the different types of objects and signs that can be found along a street in the school’s neighbourhood

Lesson Two : Street Buildings
Identify and describe the functions of some of the different types of buildings that can be found along a street close to the school’s location

Lesson Three : Street Shops
Locate, describe and compare some of the different shops that could be found along a street or road that is close to the school

Lesson Four : Street People
Identify and describe some of the different people who might reside in some of the homes that can be found in the local area close to the school

Lesson Five : Street Vehicles
Conduct and present the results from a survey to record the number of different vehicles that can be seen along a street close to the school

Lesson Six : Street Life
Identify and describe some of the people, places, events and actions that might be seen in the school’s neighbourhood along different streets and roads
