Lesson Four – By Train

This curriculum topic teaching pack for the Foundation Stage gets the children to describe and compare travelling somewhere special by train with similar types of journeys using other forms of transport.
The class can select and sort sequences of instructions about how to make a journey somewhere by train including waiting on the platform and alighting the train.

Activities in this teaching pack include a set of cards to identify and sequence the matching actions to follow when travelling somewhere by train and a template to select and record information for different types of train journeys when visiting a range of locations.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to compare travelling by train on different journeys with other forms of transport.
This lesson is part of a numeracy scheme of work to get the children to identify, describe and compare some of the different journeys that can be made by bus, train or plane for a range of purposes by families. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
