Lesson Three – Street Shops

This curriculum topic teaching pack for the Foundation Stage gets the children to locate, describe and compare some of the different shops that could be found along a street or road that is close to the school.

The class can identify and make lists of items that might be needed from shops to match a range of different family events and experiences such as parties and meals.

Activities in this teaching pack include a shared reading text to explain where to buy different items for a matching event or experience, a template to select and record lists of items that can be bought from a shop for a specific purpose and a set of cards to choose the name of a shop when building lists.

The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to locate and compare some of the different shops that could be found along a street close to the school.

This lesson is part of a curriculum topic scheme of work to get the children to identify, describe and compare different types of buildings and objects that can be found on a street or road that is part of the school neighbourhood. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
