Nativity Events

This religious education scheme of work for Key Stage Two gets the children to explore the main events that occurred surrounding the birth of Jesus by composing a range of different texts to sequence and illustrate what happened. The class can compose reports, recounts, play scripts and prayers to show the events.

Lesson Two : Nativity Recounts
Model how to write a recount of an event in the nativity story from the viewpoint of one of the main characters in the sequence of events

Lesson Three : Nativity Play Script
Write and perform a play script to dramatise a scene illustrating what happened in one part of the nativity story based on a Gospel from the New Testament

Lesson Four : Shepherds and Kings
Select and compose prayers that could have been recited by different characters as part of the Nativity story to reflect on what happened
