Lesson Three – Division Changes

This maths teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to model and record changes that can happen to the place value of the digits in different numbers when they have been divided by ten.
The class can use concrete equipment to illustrate and explain how the digits in a number move one place to the right when dividing by ten to alter the value of their numerical digits.
Download this teaching pack including a lesson plan, classroom activities and an interactive presentation to teach the children to model and record changes that can happen to the place value of the digits in different numbers when they have been divided by ten
Activities in this teaching pack include a set of differentiated templates to practise dividing different two, three and four digit numbers by ten to indicate changes to the place value of the digits using concrete equipment to model alterations to their numerical digits.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to model and record changes to the place value of digits in a number when dividing by ten.
This lesson is part of a maths scheme of work to get the children to explore and model how the place value of the digits in different numbers change when multiplied and divided by ten and one hundred.
