Unit G – Digit Value Changes

This maths scheme of work for Key Stage Two gets the children to model and illustrate changes to the place value of the digits in numbers when multiplying and dividing by ten, one hundred and one thousand. The class can explain how digits in a number move left and right when multiplied and divided by powers of ten.

Model and illustrate changes to the place value of the digits in different numbers when multiplying and dividing by ten, one hundred and one thousand

Lesson One : Number Changes
Investigate changes to the place value of digits in a number when multiplying by ten and one hundred

Lesson Two : Greater and Less Than
Use the symbols for greater and less than to compare numbers multiplied by ten, one hundred and one thousand

Lesson Three : Division Changes
Identify and record changes to the place value of digits in a number when dividing by ten and one hundred

Lesson Four : Length Division
Practise measuring and dividing different lengths in the classroom in centimetres by one thousand

Lesson Five : Number Ladders
Investigate and record changes to numbers when multiplying and dividing by ten, one hundred and one thousand
