Chocolate Debate

This English teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to prepare and hold a class debate to identify and explain the benefits and disadvantages of eating chocolate for family snacks and meals.
The class can select and list arguments for and against eating chocolate to help them compose speeches ready for a debate to say whether it should be eaten by members of a family.

Activities in this teaching pack include a shared reading text to identify and explain how to structure and format a discussion text to present arguments for or against an issue, a set of cards to identify and sort a range of different arguments for or against eating chocolate and a worksheet to edit and correct the format and structure of a discussion text to make corrections and improvements ready for a class debate.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to hold a class debate to identify and explain the benefits and disadvantages of eating chocolate.
