Lesson Three – Toy Interviews

This history teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to practise preparing and conducting interviews with classroom visitors to find out about some of the toys and games that they owned and played with in the past.
The class can identify and record the most effective questions that can be used when researching family life in the past to make comparisons with today.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify effective questions that can be used to find out about an artefact from the past and a table display card to select questions to use when conducting interviews with classroom visitors about toys that they owned and played with in the past.
The interactive presentation can be used to explore how to conduct interviews with classroom visitors to find out about some of the toys that they owned in the past.
This lesson is part of a history scheme of work to get the children to investigate and record how a selection of different toys and games owned by families have changed and developed over time. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
