Lesson Six – Castle Flag

This art and design teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to practise printing a range of different shapes and patterns to produce the design for a flag that can be flown on top of a castle representing its inhabitants.
The class can suggest and model how to improve their flag design by using other materials to produce repeating patterns and shapes representing the matching requests for a castle.

Activities in this teaching pack include a shared reading text to identify the design for a castle flag to match suggested requirements and a set of cards to describe some of the special shapes, colours and patterns that have been used in different flag designs for a castle.
