Lesson Two – Fruit Shapes

This art and design teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to explore and record some of the shapes and patterns that have been used in still life paintings depicting different pieces of fruit.

The class can practise using some coloured pastels to make a range of shapes illustrating the shapes and patterns that can be seen in different fruits.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe shapes and colours seen on the inside of different fruits and in the artwork painting by Fruit and Flowers by Theodorus van Brussel and a worksheet to practise different techniques that can be used when drawing fruit shapes using pastels.

The interactive presentation can be used to explore some of the shapes and patterns that have been used in still life paintings depicting different pieces of fruit.
