Unit D – Calculation Solutions
This maths scheme of work for Key Stage Two gets the children to use standard written methods of addition and subtraction to check calculated sums using inverse operations and solve problems with multi-step solutions. Lesson Two : Number Pyramids
Practise using inverse operations to add and subtract pairs of different five digit numbers using standard written methods to complete layers in a puzzle shape
Lesson Three : Robot Factory
Practise using standard written addition and subtraction calculations to solve different number word problems about products that could be made by robots in a factory
Lesson Four : Family Party
Explain and model how to use standard written addition and subtraction calculations to select items needed for a family celebration to match a specific money budget
Lesson Five : Number Races
Identify and practise how to use the correct standard written number calculations when adding and subtracting different pairs of four and five digit numbers
