Lesson Five – Government

This history teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to explore and illustrate some of the different styles of Ancient Greek government that are still used in some countries around the modern world today.
The class can select and describe one form of government that can be used for an Ancient Greek city state to explain how it was used to govern and manage a city’s population.

Activities in this teaching pack include a shared reading text to identify and describe different forms of government that were followed in Ancient Greece and templates to identify and list arguments for and against a style of government in an Ancient Greek state to use when composing a discursive writing text.
The interactive presentation can be used to explore and record information about some of the different styles of Ancient Greek government that are still used in the modern world today
This lesson is part of a history scheme of work to get the children to investigate the growth and development of the Ancient Greek civilization including architecture, education and government and explore how these features impact the modern world.
