Lesson One – Changing Shapes

This computing teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to investigate and practise some of the different ways of inserting and adjusting a range of 2D shapes using a graphics software program.
The class can explain and model how to transform and change a range of special shapes that might be used on the design for a sail that could be flown on a Viking longship.
Download this teaching pack including a lesson plan, classroom activities and an interactive presentation to investigate and practise some of the different ways of inserting and adjusting a range of 2D shapes using a graphics software program
Activities in this teaching pack include a display poster to identify and describe some of the different shapes used on a Viking longship and a worksheet to select and practise inserting and adjusting different shapes in a graphics software program.
The interactive presentation can be used to explore some of the different ways of inserting and adjusting shapes using a graphics software program.
This lesson is part of a computing scheme of work to get the children to select, combine and adjust different graphic shapes to create the design that could be used on a replica Viking longship sail. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
