Lesson One – Pots and Jugs

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe shapes and sizes that have been used for different pots and a table display card to explore and sketch some of the special shapes and decorations used on pots with different functions.
The interactive presentation can be used to explore and record the function and decoration of different containers that have been made from clay.
This lesson is part of an art and design scheme of work to get the children to develop and refine a range of different art and design techniques when working with clay to make pots that represent Viking culture and traditions. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
