Lesson Six – Tile Reviews

This art and design teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to practise reviewing and suggesting changes and improvements to clay tiles reflecting some Ancient Egyptian culture and traditions from the past.

The class can investigate how to make improvements to their completed clay tiles by changing the design and adding other attachments to better represent life in Ancient Egypt.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe some of the shapes, colours and patterns to represent Ancient Egypt culture and traditions and a table display card to select and record how to make improvements to their clay tile reflecting life in Ancient Egypt.

The interactive presentation can be used to explore changes that can be made to clay tiles reflecting Ancient Egyptian culture and traditions.

This lesson is part of an art and design scheme of work to get the children to design and produce tiles that can represent Ancient Egyptian culture and traditions by adding shapes, patterns and attachments to clay models. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
