Discover some schemes of work, lesson plans, classroom worksheets and interactive activities to develop skills in maths for Year Three in Key Stage Two to teach about number and place value, addition and subtraction and multiplication and division
Number and Place Value
Explore and model the place value of the digits that comprise different three digit numbers using partitioning and ordering number skills

(A) Hundreds, Tens and Ones
Investigate and record the place value of different three digit numbers by partitioning each number into their matching hundreds, tens and ones

Explore and record how to order three digit numbers by the place value of their digits and how the digits in a number change their numerical values when finding ten and one hundred more or less
Addition and Subtraction
Practise some mental and written calculation methods to add and subtract pairs of numbers including using exchange between place value

(D) Addition Facts
Practise and refine different techniques for addition using facts about numbers to support mental calculations including adding multiples of hundreds and tens and utilising number bonds

(E) Addition Exchange
Practise using mental and written calculation methods to add numbers including informal and formal columnar techniques with exchange between place value

(F) Subtraction Changes
Develop and refine mental and informal written calculation skills when subtracting different pairs of three digit numbers and ones, tens and hundreds

(G) Subtraction Solving
Identify and practise using written calculation skills when subtracting pairs of numbers with up to three digits including exchange between place value
Multiplication and Division
Learn and recall facts in the times tables calculations to use when solving multiplication and division number equations and problems

(I) Times Tables Groups
Model and illustrate how to use facts in the times tables to multiply different numbers by two and five by counting and grouping matching products
