Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe some of the different problems that could be faced by explorers on an expedition and a set of cards to select and record information about a location used in a role-play about places that explorers could visit.

This lesson is part of a history scheme of work to get the children to explore and record how life was the same or different in the past by finding out about a famous explorer who journeyed to the Antarctic. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
