Lesson Six – Flower Painting

This art and design teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to explore how to select and work with a range of special colour shades when creating a still life painting of a vase filled with flowers.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe some of the shapes and colours used in paintings of flowers and the different colour shades that have been used in the painting of a Vase of Flowers by Paul Gaugin and a worksheet to follow a set of instructions about how to use lines and shapes when painting representations of a vase of flowers.

The interactive presentation can be used to explore how to select and utilise a range of colour shades to create a still life painting of a vase of flowers.
