Lesson One – Story Events

This literacy teaching pack for the Foundation Stage gets the children to suggest and describe some alternative plot developments to complete the narrative in a traditional story about the Billy Goats Gruff.

Activities in this teaching pack include a set of cards to identify and match a selection of different cvc words that begin with the phoneme sound for the letter g and a worksheet to play a paired game to find different cvc words with the initial phoneme sounds of /g/ and /t/.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore alternative plot developments to complete the narrative in a traditional story about the Billy Goats Gruff.
This lesson is part of a literacy scheme of work to get the children to explore the characters in a traditional story using reading and role-play to sequence and adapt the narrative and practise segmenting and blending phonemes in cvc words. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
