Lesson Four – Story Drama

This literacy teaching pack for the Foundation Stage gets the children to explain and model how to use role-play and drama to adapt and edit a traditional story by adding some new story characters into the sequence of events.
The class can list and match a range of different cvc words that begin with the phoneme sound for the letter p to use when describing plot events in a narrative story.

Activities in this teaching pack include sets of cards to identify and match different cvc words that begin with the initial phoneme sound for the letter p and select and record story characters to match comparative and superlative adjectives for use when role-playing changes to a traditional story.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to use role-play and drama to adapt and edit a traditional story using new characters.
This lesson is part of a literacy scheme of work to get the children to explore the characters in a traditional story using reading and role-play to sequence and adapt the narrative and practise segmenting and blending phonemes in cvc words. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
