Lesson Three – Fairy Tale Questions

This literacy teaching pack for the Foundation Stage gets the children to select and record some of the questions that can be used to explore information about different characters that feature in a fairy tale story.
The class can record and list the spelling of different cvc words that end in the final phoneme sound of /g/ with each of the middle vowel sounds.

Activities in this teaching pack include a shared reading text to identify and describe some of the different characters, settings and themes in a traditional story, a set of cards to name and record words that can be used at the beginning of a sentence about what happened in a traditional story and a worksheet to model how to spell different words that end in the same final phoneme sound.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore some of the questions that can be used to explore different characters that feature in a fairy tale.
This lesson is part of a literacy scheme of work to get the children to identify and describe common characters, settings and themes used in traditional stories and suggest story changes using role-play and written composition. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
