Lesson Four – Fairy Tale Puppets

This literacy teaching pack for the Foundation Stage gets the children to select and role-play character dialogue to use with hand puppets to illustrate some of the events that happened in a fairy tale about Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

The class can identify and match pairs of cvc words that end in the same final phoneme sounds with each of the middle vowel sounds.

Activities in this teaching pack include a shared reading text to role-play the sequence of events in the opening to the traditional story of Goldilocks and sets of cards to identify and sequence the main events in the traditional story of Goldilocks and Three Bears and match and groups pairs of cvc words that end in the same final phoneme sound.

The interactive presentation gets the children to explore dialogue to use with puppets to illustrate some of the events that happened in a fairy tale.

This lesson is part of a literacy scheme of work to get the children to identify and describe common characters, settings and themes used in traditional stories and suggest story changes using role-play and written composition. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
