Lesson One – Summer or Winter

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe different types of clothing that might be needed to match the common weather experienced during the summer or winter and a template to create a collage showing items of clothing to match a particular season of the year.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore and compare typical weather patterns between different seasons of the year for the summer and winter.
This lesson is part of a curriculum topic scheme of work to get the children to explore how the weather changes during winter and its effect on the natural world including how water can freeze and turn to ice when the temperature falls below zero. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
