Lesson Four – Snowflakes

This curriculum topic teaching pack for the Foundation Stage gets the children to investigate, describe and record how the natural world can change during a snowstorm which might occur during the winter season.
The class can identify and describe some of the different shapes that can be seen in a range of snowflakes that might fall to the ground in some winter weather.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe some of the different shapes that can be seen in a range of snowflakes, a worksheet to select and record some of the special actions that can be completed in the snow and a template to build a picture of a snowflake using a range of different 2D shapes.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how the natural world changes during a snowstorm during a snowstorm which might occur during the winter season.
This lesson is part of a curriculum topic scheme of work to get the children to explore how the weather changes during winter and its effect on the natural world including how water can freeze and turn to ice when the temperature falls below zero. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
