Lesson Five – Newsagent

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe some of the different items that can be sold in a newsagent, a set of cards to select and sort objects into different groups using a range of criteria to match vocabulary words and a template to record vocabulary words that can be used to describe different sweets sold in a newsagent.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to select and design different products that could be sold in a newsagent shop in the local area.
This lesson is part of a curriculum topic scheme of work to get the children to explore the locations and functions of different shops that can be found in the local area and identify and compare products that are sold in each shop. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
