This history scheme of work for Key Stage One gets the children to investigate and record ways that castles were constructed and located in the past to provide protection to the inhabitants and local community. The class can show how an army might have laid siege to a castle and attacked the location.

Lesson Four : Castle Siege
Explore how to identify and record a matching set of instructions for an army to follow about how to lay siege to and attack a castle in the past
Lesson Five : Castle Attack
Practise identifying, describing and building an example model of a weapon that was used to attack a castle by an army in the past
