Lesson Two – Plant Labels

This computing teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to practise selecting and adding vocabulary labels to different digital photographs to identify each of the special parts of a plant.
The class can choose and describe the most effective font and style to use for a plant label so that it can be read easily by a viewer when researching information.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify effective ways of labelling a digital image of a part of a plant, a set of cards and vocabulary word bank to label different parts of a flowering plant that can be seen on digital photographs.
The interactive presentation can be used to explore how to add vocabulary labels to different digital photographs to identify each special part of a plant.
This lesson is part of a computing scheme of work to get the children to record, edit and label digital images of different flowers and plants that can be found around the school grounds. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
