Unit C – Estate Agents

This English scheme of work for Key Stage Two gets the children to compose and edit adverts using persuasive language to sell different houses as estate agents, investigate the spellings and meanings of of words that are homophones and practise selecting powerful adjectives to use when writing expanded noun phrases.

Investigate how to select and record matching homophones that can be used to complete sentences describing different houses for sale in the school’s neighbourhood

Lesson Two : Sentence Building
Practise combining sets of nouns, adjectives and prepositions to compose expanded noun phrases that can be used to describe different parts of a house

Lesson Three : House Abbreviations
Identify and record the meaning of some special word abbreviations that can be used in house sale adverts to indicate different features of the property

Lesson Four : Advert Words
Explore and record how to compile lists of matching synonyms for different words that could be used in an advert to sell a house in the school’s neighbourhood

Explain and model how to select and use persuasive vocabulary to edit and improve adverts that can be used to sell a range of different houses
