Lesson One – Number Dominoes

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to count numbers of objects to twenty and compare their matching values and a template and sets of cards to select and record the values of different numbers that are one more than other numbers to twenty.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to compare the value of different numbers to twenty using concrete apparatus to illustrate their place value.
This lesson is part of a maths scheme of work to get the children to use concrete equipment and diagrams to model how to compare numbers within twenty by the value of their digits when recording equations using numbers and symbols.
