Lesson Two – Five Pillars of Islam

This religious education teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to explore how to identify and record some of the special ways that Muslims observe and follow the main rules in the Islamic religion.
The class can compose and present sentences describing how Muslims can observe and adhere to one of the Five Pillars of Islam as delivered by the prophet Muhammad.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe the rules and beliefs observed by Muslims as followers of Islam and differentiated templates to select and record how Muslims observe and follow one of the main rules in Islam.
The interactive presentation can be used to explore and record how Muslims can observe and follow the main rules in the Islamic religion that were presented by Muhammad.
This lesson is part of a religious education scheme of work to get the children to explore and illustrate some of the different stories, beliefs and practices of the Islamic religion including special festivals and sacred texts. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
