Lesson Five – Islamic Calendar

This religious education teaching pack for Key Stage One gets the children to explore, describe and sequence each of the main festivals that occur throughout the year in the Islamic religion observed by Muslims.

The class can create and present a timetable calendar showing how a Muslim family might celebrate each of the special festivals during the course of one year.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe the main festivals that occur in the Islamic religion during the year, a set of cards to sequence the main festivals in the Islamic religion and a template to create a timetable showing when a family could celebrate special times of the year.

The interactive presentation can be used to explore how to describe and sequence the main festivals that occur throughout the year in the Islamic religion.

This lesson is part of a religious education scheme of work to get the children to explore and illustrate some of the different stories, beliefs and practices of the Islamic religion including special festivals and sacred texts.
