Lesson Four – Households

This science teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to explore and model some of the different ways of building electrical circuits that can be used to power a range of household devices such as light bulbs and door buzzers.

The class can select and record the electrical circuits that can be used to solve a range of problems in a family home such as alerting to a visitor at the front door.

Download this teaching pack including a lesson plan, classroom activities and an interactive presentation to explore and model some of the different ways of building electrical circuits that can be used to power a range of household devices such as light bulbs and door buzzers

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify symbols that can be used for electrical components in circuit diagrams and a set of cards to solve a range of design challenges using different electrical circuits built using the correct components.

The interactive presentation gets the children to explore different ways of building electrical circuits to power a range of household devices.

This lesson is part of a science scheme of work to get the children to devise and construct different electrical circuits that can be used to control electrical devices for a range of specific functions in a family home. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
