Lesson One – What Tooth

This science teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to identify and compare some of the different types of teeth that can be found inside the human mouth and describe their matching functions in chewing food.
The class can make and record observations about the canines, incisors and molars that can be found in their own set of teeth to show what makes them special and unique.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe different types of teeth found in the human mouth, a shared reading text to suggest how they could respond to a request asking for information about the different types of human teeth, a set of cards to match the names of the three main types of teeth with their functions and a worksheet to label different types of teeth found in the human mouth and describe their matching functions.
The interactive presentation can be used to explore and compare some of the different types of teeth that can be found in the human mouth and describe their matching functions.
This lesson is part of a science scheme of work to get the children to name, locate and explain the function of some of the different types of teeth that are used in the initial digestion of food inside the human mouth.
