Electricity

This science scheme of work for Key Stage Two gets the children to identify and record how to build a range of electrical series circuits to control and manage devices and components for different functions and outputs. The class show how to use an electrical circuit to solve a problem.

Identify and record how to build a range of electrical series circuits to control and manage devices and components for different functions and outputs

Lesson One : Simple Circuits
Investigate, model and record some of the different ways of building simple electrical circuits to control a range of devices

Lesson Two : Insulators and Conductors
Identify, describe and compare different materials that have a high or low resistance to the flow of electricity when part of a circuit

Lesson Three : Circuit Switches
Explain and record how to build a circuit switch to use in an electrical device to solve a problem by constructing an alarm that will occur when a specific event occurs

Lesson Four : Using Switches
Explain and record how to build a circuit switch to use in an electrical device to solve a problem by constructing an alarm that will occur when a specific event occurs

Lesson Five : Changing Circuits
Investigate and illustrate some of the different ways of changing and controlling devices using electrical circuits for a range of specific functions

Lesson Six : Quiz Game
Practise using sets of series circuits to build and play a model quiz game that works using electricity to indicate the answers to each of the questions

Electricity Assessment
Assess abilities in identifying and recording how to build electrical series circuits to control and manage devices and components for different functions and outputs
-
Cities, Towns and Villages
Research and present the history of a range of different buildings and people that are part of the local community using a school exhibition
-
Recycling
Research and present some of the benefits and disadvantages that can be produced when recycling different materials at home and in school
-
Viking Pots
Develop and refine a range of different art and design techniques when working with clay to make pots that represent Viking culture and traditions
-
Bronze Age
Research and illustrate how life in Britain developed and changed during the Bronze Age including the growth of communities and trade
