Lesson Three – Circuit Switches

This science teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to select, build and test a range of different circuits to model and record how to control a selection of electrical devices by using a switch to turn on and off the flow of electricity.

The class can explain and diagram how to change different circuits so that they work correctly with switches to control some other electrical components.

Download this teaching pack including a lesson plan, classroom activities and an interactive presentation to select, build and test a range of different circuits to model and record how to control a selection of electrical devices by using a switch to turn on and off the flow of electricity

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify and describe some of the special symbols that can be used to represent electrical devices and a set of cards to test switches that they have built into a range of different circuits used to control electrical devices.

The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to build and test different circuits to record how to control electrical devices using a switch.

This lesson is part of a science scheme of work to get the children to identify and record how to build a range of electrical series circuits to control and manage devices and components for different functions and outputs. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
