Lesson Four – Division Rounding

This maths teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to explain and record when and how to use rounding to solve different short division calculations when interpreting the quotients with calculated remainders.
The class can explain how to utilise calculations in the times tables to complete different steps when using the short division method to complete each of the calculations.
Download this teaching pack including a lesson plan, classroom activities and an interactive presentation to explain and record when and how to use rounding to solve different short division calculations when interpreting the quotients with calculated remainders
Activities in this teaching pack include a differentiated set of worksheets to model and record how to use the short division method to divide four digit by single digit numbers with remainders when rounding the quotient to solve each division problem.
The interactive presentation gets the children to explore when and how to use rounding when solving division calculations using the short division method with remainders.
This lesson is part of a maths scheme of work to get the children to practise using the short division method to solve problems when dividing four by one digit numbers including quotients with remainders and the use of rounding to express solutions. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
