This maths teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to practise calculating the capacities of different sized bottles by exploring how to add pairs of two digit numbers using standard written methods.

The class can identify and model the written number calculation skills that they can use when adding numbers with exchange between place value to show the bottle capacities.

Download this teaching pack including classroom activities and an interactive presentation to practise calculating the capacities of different sized bottles by exploring how to add pairs of two digit numbers using standard written methods

Activities in this teaching pack include a differentiated set of worksheets to select and calculate the capacities of pairs of bottles with measurements to one hundred millilitres for support ability levels, to two hundred for core ability levels and three hundred for extension ability levels when using standard written methods for addition with exchange between place value.

The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to calculate the the capacities of different sized bottles by adding pairs of two digit numbers.

This lesson is part of a maths scheme of work to get the children to practise solving a range of addition number problems using measurements for length, mass and capacity in a range of units. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
