This maths teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to investigate and record the place value of different three digit numbers by partitioning each number into their matching hundreds, tens and ones. The class can practise using concrete equipment and diagrams to model and illustrate the place value of the digits.

Identify and record the numbers of hundreds that can be identified and used in different quantities of numbers of objects to one thousand

Lesson Two : Counting Hundreds
Explore and record how the place value of the numerical digits in a range of different numbers change when counting in steps of one hundred

Lesson Three : Digit Sums
Model how to use concrete objects and pictorial diagrams to represent the place value of the digits in different numbers to one thousand

Lesson Four : Mixing Numbers
Select and combine different numbers of hundreds, tens and ones to produce and record a range of three digit numbers

Lesson Five : Grid Numbers
Identify and record some of the three digit numbers that can be built using different combinations of hundreds, tens and ones using pictorial diagrams and concrete equipment
