Lesson Two – Map Changes

This history teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to explain and model how to use maps to identify and record information about some of the changes and developments that have happened to locations in the local area.
The class can select and record changes to buildings and other features on a map of the school neighbourhood such as extensions to shops and factory conversions.

This lesson is part of a history scheme of work to get the children to research and present the history of a range of different buildings and people that are part of the local community using a school exhibition. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
