Lesson Four – Local Interviews

This history teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to investigate how to interview and question different people about some of the changes and developments that have happened to local community over time.
The class can identify and select effective questions that can be asked to explore how the school neighbourhood has changed since the past such as the construction of a new leisure centre.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify effective questions that can be used to investigate life in the past in the local area and a table display card to select key questions to use in an interview to find out about some of the changes that have happened to the local community over time.

This lesson is part of a history scheme of work to get the children to research and present the history of a range of different buildings and people that are part of the local community using a school exhibition. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
