School Letters

This English scheme of work for Key Stage Two gets the children to practise composing and publishing letters to different members in the school community for a range of functions and purposes. The class can describe sentence structures and vocabulary that can be used to structure letters for specific purposes.

Dear Teacher
Identify and record how to layout and compose an introduction letter to a new class teacher to aid a smooth transition into a new school year

Dear Me
Practise composing and publishing a personal letter using the correct layout and structure outlining the hopes and aspirations for the forthcoming school year

School Invitations
Explain and model how to write a letter using persuasive language to invite a celebrity to visit the school for a special function or celebration

Thank You Letters
Practise compose and presenting letters thanking different members of the school community for their support and help in lessons and other areas of school life

Maths Arithmetic Assessment
Assess abilities in solving arithmetic number problems for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division when working with informal and formal written calculations

Identify and describe some of the special landscapes and locations that can be found in the world and reflect on how they can be protected and preserved for the future

Silent Letter Words
Explore and illustrate the meanings and spellings of some different words with silent letters when using them in a range of topics and scenarios

Explain and model how to format and structure writing when composing letters of complaint about different issues and scenarios
