Lesson Two – Plant Questions

This computing teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to identify and record key questions that can be used to differentiate between different types of flowering plants in a branching database.

The class can suggest and model when and how they might use some open or closed questions to find out about different types of plants so that they can be compared.

Download this teaching pack including a lesson plan, classroom activities and an interactive presentation to identify and record key questions that can be used to differentiate between different types of flowering plants in a branching database

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify examples of key questions that can be used to differentiate between different types of plants and a table display card to select key questions that can be used to collect and sort information about plants to use on a branching database.

The interactive presentation can be used to explore and record key questions that can be used to differentiate between different types of flowering plants.

This lesson is part of a computing scheme of work to get the children to practise using a branching database to organise and interrogate data collected about flowering plants found in different habitats around the world. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
