Plants Database

This computing scheme of work for Key Stage Two gets the children to practise using a branching database to organise and interrogate data collected about flowering plants found in different habitats around the world. The class can identify how to use a computer to organise and present information about plants.

Practise using a branching database to organise and interrogate data collected about flowering plants found in different habitats around the world

Lesson One : Plant Index
Investigate and record some of the different ways that can be used to collect and organise information into a manual database about a range of flowering plants

Lesson Two : Plant Questions
Identify and record key questions that can be used to differentiate between different types of flowering plants in a branching database

Lesson Three : Sorting Plants
Practise selecting and using key questions to identify and sort between some different types of plants when working with a branching database

Lesson Four : Database Questions
Practise building a branching database to differentiate between some of the special types of plants that can be found growing around the school grounds

Lesson Five : Habitat Plants
Investigate how to research and collect information and data that can be used in a branching database to identify and sort between some types of plants found in different habitats

Lesson Six : Branching Database
Explain and model how to use researched information to build a branching database about some of the special plants that can be found in a particular habitat in the world
