Lesson Four – Roman Life

This history teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to research, compare and present different aspects of Roman daily life such as the development of education, employment and buildings.

The class can identify and record how the lives of the Romans were the same or different from some of the other historical periods that they have studied in the past.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify daily events for a Roman child to compare against modern lives of children today. a shared reading text to describe the structure and function of parts of a Roman villa and make comparisons between other buildings and a table display card to research and present information about an aspect of Roman daily life in the past.

The interactive presentation gets the children to explore how to research, compare and present different aspects of Roman daily life such as education, employment and buildings.

This lesson is part of a history scheme of work to get the children to investigate some of the reasons for the growth of the Roman Empire in the past and why the Romans invaded ancient Britain. There are teaching activities for shared learning, differentiated worksheets to support independent learning and interactive presentations to introduce concepts and key skills.
