Lesson Five – Roman Expansion

This history teaching pack for Key Stage Two gets the children to identify, describe and record some of the different reasons that led to the expansion of the Roman empire across Europe and Northern Africa in the past.

The class can model how to write in character to show what they have found about an event in the past when the Romans invaded some other countries in the world.

Activities in this teaching pack include display posters to identify reasons for Roman expansion through different countries in the past, a template to collect notes to explain reasons for the invasion of Britain to use when writing a speech to present ideas and a set of cards to name and record some of the reasons for the Roman invasion of Britain in the past.

The interactive presentation gets the children to explore some of the reasons for Roman expansion across Europe and Northern Africa in the past.

This lesson is part of a history scheme of work to get the children to investigate some of the reasons for the growth of the Roman Empire in the past and why the Romans invaded ancient Britain.
